Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

I have an office located in the Financial District in Downtown Boston and am available for in-person sessions on Wednesday and Friday. I also offer virtual sessions Tuesday through Friday.

As long as you’re in Massachusetts at the time of our appointment, we can connect from a distraction-free location of your choice!

When are you available?
I see clients Tuesday through Friday by appointment only.
How often will we meet?

Research shows that weekly therapy sessions offer the most effective treatment and consistent results. Therefore, I prefer we meet weekly until getting to a place where you’ve established solid coping skills and have experienced a significant reduction in symptoms. The process is also not linear. Even when we get to the point of not needing to meet weekly, something could come up that would make weekly sessions more appropriate.

I never start with biweekly or monthly meetings because symptoms are most acute and needs are greatest in the beginning. If meeting weekly is challenging due to scheduling or finances, I am happy to provide referrals for other therapists or providers.

So, meeting biweekly is more for maintenance, while weekly sessions will allow us to make the most progress and get the most out of our time together.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions canceled with under 24 hours’ notice are charged a fee of $100, regardless of reason.

Sessions missed without notice, or canceled at the scheduled appointment time or later, will incur the full fee of $200.

How much do you charge per session?
Standard sessions are $200 and last 50-55 minutes.
Do you offer a sliding scale?

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer a sliding scale at this time. If you want to pursue this option, I recommend checking out Open Path or visiting your local community health center’s behavioral health department. They typically accept all insurances and sometimes have grants for individuals without insurance.

How is payment collected?

A card is kept on file and is charged before the start of the appointment. Acceptable forms of payment include card, HSA/FSA, or Venmo.I am currently partnered with Alma to accept Aetna and Optum insurance plans.

If you have out-of-network benefits (usually a PPO plan), your insurance company will likely reimburse you for a portion of the cost of our work together. If I do not accept your insurance directly, my practice can submit paperwork to your insurance on your behalf for possible reimbursement.

Do you only work with women?
I am happy to work with people of any gender who struggle with people-pleasing, are overly accommodating, and want a more fulfilling life.
Do I have to identify as part of the LGBTQ community to work with you?
Nope.
Do you identify as part of the queer community?
Yes.
What if I don’t want to talk about all the details?

Many of the therapeutic modalities I use require minimal talking. A lot of our work will be about feeling into your body and what it’s communicating to you.

I may ask questions about what’s coming up as we process, but you are welcome to share as much or as little as you would like. The focus is on the feeling experience and the shift in the intensity of those feelings as we look at the stories your body holds.

Will you give me homework?

The homework will always be about noticing your body, thoughts, and feelings… and doing something that nurtures you.

Many of the clients I work with enjoy reading therapeutic books, which can inform our work together. However, I always remind clients that healing from trauma is not a cognitive experience; rather, it’s a body-based one.

What do we do in sessions?
We start where you are at that moment. I will always get a temperature on how you’re doing today and how your week was. I will also give a quick recap of what we focused on in our last session and ask what you’re bringing in with you this week.
What modalities do you use?

My primary modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, which I blend with Brainspotting. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and use it often with clients.

Can I refer my friend, sister, hairdresser, etc.?

I’m honored that you feel so touched by our work together. Thank you.

However, if the person you’re referring is someone you are often in close contact with, it may be best for them to work with someone who is not also holding other parts of the same story.

If you refer someone, I will never acknowledge whether I know you or not. HIPAA law requires I keep our work together in the strictest of confidence.
